Our exceptional and long-term partnerships with some of the most celebrated institutions in Houston’s Texas Medical Center make us feel lucky to live here.

The Matagorda Regional Medical Center (MRMC) in Bay City is a modern acute care hospital that is part of an 11-acre campus consisting of a multi-specialty physician group practice and a stand-alone wellness and rehabilitation center. MRMC is a Joint Commission accredited hospital, an ANCC Pathway to Excellence designated organization, and an award-winning facility for both service excellence and patient safety outcomes. From urgent, emergency, and intensive care to family medicine and surgical services, the MRMC campus is the preferred source of expert medical care and transfer services for residents of Matagorda County and the surrounding region.

Our community also has access to our local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Matagorda Episcopal Health Outreach Program (MEHOP), which has clinic locations in Bay City, Palacios and also in neighboring Wharton County. MEHOP offers Family Medicine, Behavioral Health (counseling & psychiatry), Pediatrics, Women’s Health including OB/GYN services, Ophthalmology, Family Dental, and Gastroenterology. MEHOP is a recognized Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) as well as a designated Advocacy Center of Excellence (ACE). MEHOP’s mission is, “To provide access to all healthcare services for any patient. To be advocates and makers of change that directly impact the social determinants of health.” Access to many enabling services is also offered such as prescription assistance, transportation to MEHOP appointments, case management, Medicaid, and Marketplace enrollment assistance.
