An aspect of life in Bay City that sets us apart is how close we are to nature and the recreation it provides us year around. All you have to do is go out your back door and look at the sky to see wonders that are often missed in bright city lights. A short drive in your car or a quick bike ride down the street and you will find numerous activities that all lead to beautiful, natural recreation sites. So, what are you waiting for? Get on out there and start enjoying it all.
BIRDING
Ah, the birds in Matagorda County. If you have gotten this far, you probably noted we are known for our birds. Hundreds of them. Best birding anywhere and the largest Christmas count in the nation. With the Matagorda County Birding Center in our backyard, we are a bird watcher’s delight.
GOLF
Have a golfer in the family? Check out the beautiful Rio Colorado Golf Course that was built around the Colorado River and surrounding wetlands. There is also Bay City Country Club, which can be played year-round and was voted one of the best nine-hole courses in Texas. Families can also enjoy the swimming pool in the summer.
